Big Agnes is known for producing award winning products, and now, for Going Green. By using a technology known as the Green Anodizing™ process, tent poles remain shiny and smooth without the need for dangerous chemicals such as phosphoric and nitric acid (normally used to keep tent poles shiny). DAC perfected this process which is safer for our environment and its employees by eliminating the polishing stage. Additionally, they significantly reduce waste water by recycling throughout the rinsing process. Examples of Big Agnes tents using this technology are the Emerald Mountain SL3 and the Emerald Mountain SL2 (winner of the 2007 Buyer's Guide Outside Gear of the Year).
Also used in their tent line is seam tape, which is a waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane (No PVC or VOC's). Big Agnes tents using this feature include the Emerald Mountain SL2 or the Emerald Mountain SL3.
